Niklas Richardson,
Managing Director
Niklas studied at Oxford University and Royal Holloway, University of London. It was during his time at university that he became an avid user of Allaire ColdFusion, incorporating it into a variety of projects, including one that brought him the prestigious Ford Prize for Innovation.
After graduating with a BSc in Computer Science, Niklas put into action the plans he and fellow student Allen Manning had formed at Oxford. Niklas founded a company, Prismix, and built up a reputation for high-quality work delivered on time and on budget, which earned him a place on several high-profile projects.
As the architecture and development lead for BBC LiveScript – 2000 Today, Niklas designed and implemented a high-availability scheduling application that coordinated the programming contributions of more than 140 countries, enabling the BBC to transmit its multinational millennium broadcast throughout the world. Niklas designed and built the initial framework for Film Facts, an online business information system for AGI Solutions that simplifies the management of multi-dimensional data. He also consulted for Virgin Cars, providing architectural support for the development team and assisting with troubleshooting before going on to build a content management system that powered Virgin Cars’ web site for four years.
In addition to technical expertise and project management skills, Niklas brings vision to the table. After identifying a need for technically skilled Macromedia developers with a background in Computer Science, Niklas promptly established Prismix, which has been bridging the skills gap.
The same business acumen was at work in 1998, when Niklas co-founded the UK ColdFusion User Group, which remains one of the most thriving Macromedia developer communities in the U.K. Most recently, he organised CF Europe 2003, a conference held in London’s Olympia Conference Centre that drew 200 delegates from all over the world, including developers from as far away as the U.S. and the Ukraine.
Niklas is a natural leader and a galvanising force when it comes to the future of web technologies. He is one of a small set of experts currently building web applications in Macromedia Flex in the U.K.
During 2001 and 2006, Niklas was joined by his university friend, Allen Manning, as Technical Director, who has now returned to his roots in Boston.
